Tim Holtz Day 10

Tim Holtz Day 10 tag is an awesome technique! He paints the tag then embosses it.

I painted my tag black and embossed the snowflakes and snowman in clear and repainted in a white and blue. Wiped the paint off. I love the way it looks. I added a little bit more with the stickles.

Tim Holtz Day 9

Tim Holtz did it again! Day 9 of his 12 Days of Tags is demonstrating his Texture Hammer. What a neat tool!

For my tag I stamped Santa in black soot, the tree in peeled paint. I masked Santa to get the music note in there. I then colored the backgroound in peeled paint and fired bring. I don't have the hammer so not mush texture here. I used typewriter keys for the number 25.

Tim Holtz Day 7

Tim Holtz and his embossing powder! He sure does use this a lot! I wonder if his floor is as gritty as mine from spilling it? Anyway Day 7 of tags he used a lot of embossing powder.

This one was fun and easy to do. I used the shabby shutters on the background and then ep with vintage photo on top. I looks so awesome! I used the NOEL stamp I have with different colors stamped on it! My corner piece I embossed with some gold embossing powder. So easy for this one!

Tim Holtz Day 6 of Tags

Tim Holtz today was misting in Day 6 of tags!!

For me this was a challenge. I don't have a lot of re inkers so I went with vintage photo for the background with perfect pearls gold. I used a chipboard embellishment for the background rather then vinyl. The Merry Christmas is kinda dark to see. I added the buttons for a little bit extra! There you have my Tim Holtz Tag!!

For the sixth tag of Christmas,
My T!m he made for me

Tim Holtz Day 5

Tim Holtz did it again! Day 5 of his 12 Days of Tags is marvelous!

I didn't have any glossy paper so mine a a little different. I used reg card stock with the alcohol inks and some silver krylon because I also don't have the mixitives! :( Anyway I just blended the alcohol ink on the cs with the blending solution and stamped my Xmas tree in pine needles. I used a rub on for the words and some stickles on the tree. I did manage to find some snowflakes that are metal and just dabbed some paint on it with a lil stickles. And there you have it a Tim Holtz style Tag!!

For the fifth tag of Christmas,
My T!m he made for me

Yet another wonderful tag by Tim Holtz in his 12 Days of Xmas!! Day 2 is using different colors of embossing powder on one image! Here is my version!

I colored the background with peeled paint and fired brick. Stamped the image in embossing powder and sprinkled two differents reds a white and gold and black. I think he looks kool! I then used some graffiti epoxy stickers and a couple buttons for embellishments. Voila another tag Tim style! TFL!!

Tim Holtz Day 2

Here is my Day 2 Tag! Tims Day 2 Tag is sooo much better! Can you believe I don't have a decent Snowman stamp. For this tag I stamped a snowflake in the background and used white embossing powder. I then used faded jeans and broken china distress inks sprayed by water. After completely dry I stamped Noel in black paint and smeared some stickles all over the tag. Next I glued on some bling and used a couple snowflake brads. I glued on the ribbon and more bling! Voila!

Another Santa Tag Tim Holtz style! LOL!

For the second Tag of Christmas,
My T!m he made for me
One Blue snowman,
And a distressed crackled Santa.

Tim Holtz Day 1

Here is my attempt at what Tim Holtz did for Day 1 of Tags!

I used a different Santa Stamp as you can see! No Crackle paint either. I colored the background with distress inks and a make up wedge. Then stamped Santa, masked him and stamped the Christmas definition both with black soot.

I glued on some old music note paper and colored the wood "S" with distress ink. I used a snow flake brad and a believe charm that I wrapped wire around. Stuck on the ribbon and Viola!

Santa Tag Tim Holtz Style! (kinda)

For the first Tag of Christmas,
My T!m he made for me
A distressed crackled Santa.

Tim Holtz 12 Days of Christmas Tag Techniques

Tim Holtz has gotten in the groove! He has a blog finally!!

On his blog he is doing a "12 Days of Christmas Tag Techniques". Each day for 12 days starting on December 1 he is altering a Christmas Style Tag using a different technique. He gives step by step instructions of how he did this including pictures! At the end of each day he is giving away the tag he made along with the materials he used to make each tag! Awesome! Check it out Tim Holtz Blog!

I am going to try my best to attempt his technique with the supplies I have.

Coffee stained water colored tags

WaterColors are NOT my favorite medium!!

I took 3 of my coffee stained tags and added some water color paints to them. The way I did it was by soaking my tags in water to get them wet, then I crumbled them and just blotted some water color paints on them. The tags being wet made the paint bleed just like on water color paper. TFL!

I really don't like to work too much with water color paints! Just like alcohol inks it turns out like mush!! I think the whole idea of blending colors makes me nervous cause I just can't get the right colors together.

Coffee stained tags

Here are my tags I have made from The Artists Circle Workshop using coffee to stain them! I used a couple different methods when doing this. I soaked them, sprinkled instant coffee, sprinkled salt, and let some coffee soaked string dry on them. Pretty much whatever I could to get just the right look! TFL!!

New Challenge Site!

Inspirational Muse

A friend of mine has asked me to post about her new challenge site! Its called Inspirational Muse!

This is from the site:

Each week we will feature an artist! We will ask that artist to submit a piece of Art or to create something new. Tell us what inspired you to do that piece. Was it the image you choose, the stamp or a certain technique? That artist will then choose the challenge theme for that week based off the work you submitted! We will then write up a little blurb about you and your artwork, and post a link to your site for others to visit and be inspired!

Each week we will hold a challenge, theme to be decided by our featured artist. What is your muse telling you about that piece? What is inspiring you to create?

We will also have challenges using our copyright free images. The challenge will be that you have to use the image we put up for you to download. What can you make with this image? What is your muse telling you?

Be Inspired, Create Art

Basically what will happen is an artist will be featured each week. That artist can either submit a new piece of work or post one that they already have. Inspirational Muse will then write up about the artist and show the artwork of the chosen artist! They will post a link to their site for your viewing! The challenge is to create using the theme the featured artist chose when they created that piece.

Inspirational Muse will also have challenges where they upload some images for you to use in your artwork. What do you see and what can you make with this image. To see what we each interpret from this image!

Sounds like fun to me!

Boys & chairs! Two challenges in one!!

Wednesday Stampers Challenge this week was to use a chair in your artwork.

Theme Thursdays Challenge was to use a boy in your artwork!

So unbeknownst to me I was using this cabinet card that has a boy and a chair. So when I looked at the challenges for these days not realizing I figured what the heck! Why not do both in one piece.

EDIT: I have received an email saying "Who is Rince"? Well it does not say Rince it says Prince. yes the "P" does blend in a little, so for anyone else it says Prince.

Created Byhand Alcohol Inks Challenge

Alcohol Inks are NOT my favorite medium!! but still luv em

Alcohol Inks are NOT my favorite medium!! I just can't seem to get them to look right. They always seem to look like a blob of color. But I love them! The background is alcohol ink dabbed on with some gold pen. I covered it up as much or as little as I could with other inks and paints to make it look not so much like blob! So heres my entry for Created Byhand Alcohol Ink Challenge. TFL!!

I made my first ATP or Artist Trading Pin.... I think she turned out pretty good. I used one of those picture slide thingys, cannot think of the real name of them. But hopefully you can tell by the picture what I am talking about. I colored it with alcohol inks and just glued the lil girl on some mat board for the back. TFL!!

"After the Holidays" charm swap

Charms:

1. a trinket to be worn on a bracelet, necklace, etc.
2. something worn or carried on one's person for its supposed magical effect; amulet.
3. any action supposed to have magical power.
4. the chanting or recitation of a magic verse or formula.
5. a verse or formula credited with magical power.

Charms are so tiny, I could not even imagine making one... I looked around and found a lot of sites with handmade charms. These sites are awesome... the charms made have so much energy and time put into them. Some of these charms are made of Christmas Lights, bottle caps. scrabble tiles you name it, it can be turned into a charm...

I decided I wanted to try this... so instead of just making one or two I signed up for a swap and had to make 20 yep that's right 20!! For someone who has never done one or was ever into making jewelry, making 20 was beginning to sound like a million!! What do you use to make charms... well I needed wire, pliers and a bunch of other tools.

Well after about 2 weeks of non-stop charm making I did it!! The end result was awesome...

I made my charms with shrink plastic. I colored clear shrink plastic with lettuce and butterscotch alcohol inks, then I stamped the image with Staz-on ink onto the plastic. I used my heat gun to shrink them up rather then the oven. After shrunk I drilled holes in each with my dremel (luv my dremel) Clipped on the jump rings and some beads. I also punched out some crowns in the plastic and shrunk them down, then drilled a hole in those to hang... they are very hard to see because they are so tiny. I hate that my scanner scanned such a bad picture of my charms, they really are much clearer then the scan shows...

Now that I have all these new tools, I cannot wait to sign up for my next charm swap!!

These are the ATCs I made for a swap using a technique from Bernie Berlins new book "Artist Trading Card Workshop"!

If you don't have this book, GET IT!!! I used the tissue paper technique, it's fun and versatile. The background on each ATC is tissue paper crumpled up then painted with acrylic!! TFL!!

First Altered Cab Card

Well I finally did it!! After days and days of struggling with how and what to do with it, it's done!! Now I can start on a new one! I think I went through 4 different ones! It's challenging for me, I am used to just using patterened paper and slapping it on, this time I had to come up with a background and go from there! Critique always welcome!!

Jan 31, 2007

Haven't been on here in awhile!!

I haven't been using my blog in a LONG time!! Not enough time in a day or just didn't feel like it. Haven't been doing a lot of Art either, not sure which one it is. Well I have decided to get cracking and upload some work I have done, and start doing more!!

The one major reason why I haven't had much time is because of her......

Maria Ann born November 18, 2006 6lbs 10 oz....

Shes our fourth and has certainly taken up a lot of my time. But WELL worth it!!!

Daisy Ds ATCs

I made these ATCs using paper from Daisy D and collage images from Altered Pages. It was for a challenge to use these papers, I ended up swapping them out!

Grace using Peeled Paint

This card was done for a contest. I used the Peeling Paint Technique. I really enjoy this technique, you can use it on mostly anything.

Childs Board Book

I altered a child board book, this book is a pop up book. Boy that was a challenge. I used napkins for the background on each page. Some of the pages are not my best work but I had to limit it to one companies stamps, but managed.
